etrailer Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Clayton: Hey everyone, Clayton here at etrailer.com, and today we'll be taking a look at the etrailer Aluminum Cargo Carrier for our 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500. You might be asking yourself, why do I need a cargo carrier if I have a truck A lot of times, coolers and other things will take up a lot of room and we can get those out of our bed and onto our cargo carrier. And if we're using something tall, and we have a tonneau cover, we can put it back here and it'll go higher than it will if we had a tonneau cover. Although this cargo carrier is made out of aluminum, it still has a nice 500 pound weight capacity, so that's going to be plenty of weight to get anything we might want to take with us on the back of our truck. One thing I like about this cargo carrier is the shape of all of our support beams, it's really easy to get a tie down strap around and secure any of our luggage. Our cargo carrier, the actual usable space, is going to be 58 inches long, 20 and a half inches wide, and six inches deep. Another measurement you want to keep in mind is a measurement from the ground to the back of our cargo carrier. more

Rola 22x59 Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Hi everyone. Adam with etrailer.com, and today we're going to be taking a look at the Rola cargo carrier on our 2019 Chevrolet Silverado. This is going to be a steel construction cargo carrier that measures 22 inches wide by 59 inches long on the inside of your cargo carrier. So that's going to be the amount of usable space that you have. The first thing that I noticed was how sturdy these floors are. A lot of the times you get a thinner material in the floors of your cargo carriers and sometimes they flex with heat or with weight. This one, I'm very confident in saying that it won't be doing that. more

MaxxTow Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Speaker 1: Today on our 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, we're gonna be takin' a look at the MaxxTow 30 x 50 wheelchair carrier, with 48-inch long ramp, part number MT70106. Our MaxxTow carrier's gonna make loading anything with wheels easier because of the ramp. Whether it be a lawn mower, snow blower, wheelchair, or even a scooter, it's gonna be a lot easier than picking it up and placing it in it.Now, whenever we do load up our gear, the floor's gonna have a nice, steel mesh on it, which is gonna make it easy to clean and not let grime build up on it. And then, along the edges, we're gonna have plenty of points to tie down to make sure our equipment is secure. Now, I would like to get a few measurements. Our ramp is gonna stick out past our truck, roughly right about 30". more

Lets Go Aero Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Today on our 2015 Chevrolet Silverado we're going to be doing a test fit of the Let's Go Aero Gear Cage. This is going to be your 32-inch wide by 48-inch long gear cage. It's going to have that nice steel construction with a 300-pound weight capacity. It also comes with that 2-inch shank that's going to connect to your 2-inch receivers only, as well as securing with that anti-rattle bolt that's going to come in handy. We'll start off by getting a few measurements. Our closest distance will be our first measurement and that will be from the front of the gear cage to the back of the bumper, at about 7-1/2 inches. Overall distance that we've added to the vehicle with it installed is going to be about 41-1/2 inches, with a rear ground clearance of about 14-1/4 inches. Now the exhaust on this vehicle does exit down in a way on the passenger side, so you won't need to worry about carrying anything that's going to be heat sensitive on your gear cage as you can see here. more

As you can see, the vehicle is moving rather than just the rack. It's not going to be a stand-alone item as long as you have that secure. Going through a few measurements starting off, we're going to start off with our closest distance first. more

Rola Dart Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Today on our 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Crew Cab, we're going to be test fitting the Rola Dart 23x56 Cargo Carrier part number 59550. We'll begin our test fit by inserting the shank of the rack into the hitch of our vehicle. This does come with the threaded anti rattle bolt so go ahead and remove that. With the shank inserted, you want to watch for the hitch pinholes to line up. You can then thread in the anti rattle bolt. We'll get this as tight as we can by hand and then we'll finish it off with our wrench. Make sure we're turning the right way, that's important. This helps to take any extra play out of the shank of the rack which will eliminate some movement of the rack. We'll then insert the clip on the other side and grab a couple measurements. The closest point of the rack to the vehicle is going to be about 5-1/2". Our ground clearance comes to about 16-1/2" and overall to the rear of the vehicle, we've added about 13". We'll go ahead and fold the rack down by pulling the red handle here, laying it down and it locks into place. With the rack in this position, we've added about 38" to the rear of our Silverado so you'll want to keep that in mind. Our ground clearance from the back here is going to be about 21-1/2". The exhaust does exit on the passenger side of this vehicle so it shouldn't be an issue when hauling any items that are sensitive to heat. We'll go ahead and grab our breakaway point here. The tailgates going to break over the rack at about 15-1/2". As you can see, we can fully lay down our tailgate without it touching the rack. more
